Seeds!

Anticpating a shortage of plants this year, I'm starting extra seeds. A LOT of extra seeds. Part of that is to help supply a community garden that I agreed to participate in this year, but in addition I intend to sell some.

Also, part of the whole organic certification thing has been that you're required to use "organic seeds" to start your plants. It's difficult to find and purchase organic seeds. Plus, when you hold them in your hand it's hard to tell organic seeds from, um, non-organic seeds. You've got to rely on your supplier.

That then brings up the whole problem with saving your own seed. I'm not quite sure how the rules handle that. I cannot really prove that the seed I have saved from an organic plant last year is still organic since I have no documentation on it. It's in seed-limbo as far as the bookkeeping goes.

And finally, we've moved some of our seed-starting production indoors. I bought some lights and some shelving units and I'm now set up for mass sprouting. Go, seeds, go!
